LES HOUSTON CHAPTER: MARCH-IN RIGHTS: CAN THEY REALLY DO THAT?

Did you know that the Bayh-Dole Act allows universities and companies to own inventions discovered with federal funding, but in exchange, and under certain circumstances, the government can “march in” to force licensing of the patent rights? Come listen to the experts speak to March-In rights of federally funded inventions. Learn about the circumstances when this could happen as well as the probability of it happening. Hear about the few cases that have been brought where the government was asked to “march in.” While March-In rights loom across industries, certain advocate groups are now proposing creative governmental price control solutions using new interpretations of such rights. Is this misuse or not? Please join us as our panelists address and dissect the various aspects of this law.
