How to Form a Micro VC Fund Workshop with Mercury Fund
About this Event
Welcoming all angels, previous founders, MBA students, aspiring and current venture capitalists that are interested in learning more about the basic essentials for starting a small venture fund! We will cover how to get a small Venture fund off the ground (process, lessons learned, etc.) Additionally how to launch a MicroFund on AngelList. Speakers Blair Garrou of Mercury Fund and Justin LaPoten of BADR Investments will be leading the workshop and Q&A sessions!
**This workshop is limited to 20 participants by application only. When registering you will need to answer some additional questions about why you are interested in participating. There are no wrong answers. necessarily but these will determine who is invited to participate.**

Since the late 90’s, Blair Garrou has focused on funding, operating and incubating startup software companies. Blair is a Managing Director of Mercury Fund, a Houston-based seed-stage venture capital firm. Mercury seeks to invest in extraordinary entrepreneurs and innovation originating in the US Midcontinent.
Prior to co-founding Mercury, Blair was the CEO of Intermat (NYSE: IHS), a leader in product information management software; a Principal with Genesis Park, a Houston-based private equity firm; helped launch and was the Director of Operations for the Houston Technology Center, the largest tech incubator in the Southwest, where he led the formation of the Houston Angel Network. Blair received a B.S. in Management from Washington & Lee University.
Justin LaPoten is a partner at BADR investments, a private investment firm focused on energy and technology. Previously Justin was an investment banker at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, BMO Capital Markets, and KeyBanc Capital Markets. Justin graduated Cum Laude with a BBA in Finance from Texas Christian University.
