Please join us on Thursday, Sept. 24 for the next edition of our virtual EnergyBar networking event! Entrepreneurs, investors, students, and friends of climatetech are invited to attend, meet colleagues, and engage in a community that is focused on climate action at work.

This EnergyBar is a celebration of Greentown Labs Houston’s inaugural location—which will be announced on Sept. 22—and will feature virtual tours of the new space! Greentown Labs Houston will open in Spring 2021 and will provide more than 40,000 sq. ft. of prototyping lab and office space for more than 50 early-stage startups. Join us for an exclusive preview of the incubator’s floor plan and renderings.

We hope you’ll tune in to strengthen your network and learn something new about efforts to accelerate the energy transition! The event will be on Remo.co, where we regularly bring together many climate-focused professionals.

About EnergyBar:

EnergyBar is Greentown’s networking event devoted to helping people in climate technology meet and discuss innovations. Entrepreneurs, investors, students, and friends of climatetech are invited to attend, meet colleagues, and expand our growing community.

This event will be hosted virtually on Remo.co, which features virtual tables for organic conversation and networking. Attendees can engage in video conference with other attendees at tables of two to six individuals and seamlessly transition to other tables throughout the event.

Our attendees typically span a variety of disciplines within energy, efficiency, and renewables. In general, if you’re looking for a job in climatetech or energy, trying to expand your network, or perhaps thinking about starting your own energy-related company, this is the event for you. Expect to have conversations about issues facing advanced and renewable energy technologies and ways to solve our most pressing energy problems. Suggested dress is business casual.

About Our Speakers:

José Beceiro is the CEO and founder of Beceiro Strategies. José has worked in the cleantech and high-tech industries for 15 years. His background and areas of expertise include clean energy project development, site selection, university research collaboration, economic development strategy, and corporate business development. As a fundraiser, José has raised over 1 million dollars per year in corporate support for university programs. As an economic developer, he helped grow Austin’s cleantech industry to over 250 companies and 20,000 jobs.

Currently, José serves as the Senior Director of the Global Energy 2.0 initiative for the Greater Houston Partnership. His work in Houston focuses on transitioning its energy economy toward a sustainable energy future.

Ryan LeVasseur joined Rice Management Company in 2019 as the Managing Director of Direct Real Estate. In this role, Mr. LeVasseur is responsible for investments in strategic development opportunities in Houston. Prior to joining RMC, Mr. LeVasseur spent five years in Hines’ New York development office where he was a Managing Director. Prior to joining Hines, Mr. LeVasseur was a Director at HR&A Advisors. While at HR&A, he was responsible for urban development assignments in an array of locations including the New York City metropolitan area, Houston, Austin, San Antonio and Detroit.

Sven Harmsen leads Saint-Gobain NOVA North America. NOVA is the external ventures arm of Saint‐Gobain. In this role, Sven is responsible for driving NOVA’s growth strategy in alignment with overall corporate engagement and its investment strategy of startup companies. Sven came to Saint-Gobain NOVA from M Ventures, the global corporate venture capital unit of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, where he served as Investment Director.

At M Ventures, he established and led a global investment team with a focus on building a portfolio of strategic investments in the field of performance materials. Prior to M Ventures, he worked at BASF Venture Capital (BVC) where he opened their first office on the East Coast. At BVC, he oversaw the investment process from identifying relevant investment targets all the way to serving on the Board of Directors at some of the portfolio companies.

David Baldwin is the Co-President of SCF Partners. Earning his degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas in the 1980′s, David began his career as a Drilling and Production Engineer with Union Pacific Resources. Intrigued with the business aspect of the energy industry, David returned to his alma mater to earn his MBA.

While in graduate school, David started an energy consulting business and worked for General Atlantic Partners, a global venture capital firm and early investor of SCF. He met SCF Founder L. E. Simmons through General Atlantic and joined SCF after graduating in 1991. Over the years, David has been responsible for creating numerous investment platforms around emerging energy trends. He is currently responsible for overseeing SCF’s U.S. based investments. He also is a member of the Board of Directors of Forum Energy Technologies, Nine Energy Services, and Select Energy Services.

Julie Vitek is Vice President of Government and Regulatory Affairs for ENGIE North America, part of the global energy and services provider ENGIE. ENGIE North America offers a range of capabilities in the U.S. and Canada to help business and public sector customers accelerate their energy transition by decarbonizing, decentralizing, and digitalizing their operations.

Within ENGIE North America’s Government & Regulatory Affairs team, she supports policy, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement for the company’s growing Cities & Communities business line, which serves Municipal, University, School, and Hospital customers. She also coordinates company policy/advocacy-focused industry organization memberships and sponsorships to ensure alignment and effective participation across ENGIE’s business lines, and leads community affairs, volunteerism, and philanthropic efforts at the corporate level while providing guidance to ENGIE’s operational companies.

Brent Gaskamp is the Vice President of Business Development for Direct Energy’s North America Home division. In his role, Brent focuses on establishing and managing partnerships that support the growth of Direct Energy’s residential business across North America. Brent has a long history of building and managing successful relationships across business-to-business and business-to-consumer organizations, and he has worked in direct-to-consumer businesses in the hardware technology, telco, cable, internet, and software industries. Brent is also an established veteran in the media and advertising space.

An entrepreneur at heart, Brent co-founded Collider Media in 2009, and has been an advisor and mentor to many early and mid-stage startups throughout his career. Earlier in his career, Brent served as the U.S. Senior Director of Business Development for Yahoo! Mobile. Before Yahoo! Mobile, Brent’s technology career started at Dell Inc., where he focused on Dell’s direct-to-consumer business. Additionally, Brent is a US Patent holder.

Inigo Sanz is the CEO of FCC Environmental Services, a company based on a sustainable waste management. In this role, Inigo achieved outstanding results, cementing the company as a key competitor in the United States and securing 20+ large-value contracts over a four year period. He is responsible for financials, business development, production, Human Resources and administrative affairs. His leadership and expertise received distinction as the first foreign company to be awarded a solid waste management contract in the United States, with 20+ contracts signed in 4 years totaling $1.9 Billion.

Leyre de Adrian is the Global Head of Innovation and New Energies at Naturgy since July 2020 after a decade in the LNG space, where she was responsible for Global LNG Trading and Marketing activities.  She joined Naturgy in 1998, and before moving on to the LNG Business, she led major national and international investment and asset transactions, including the CCGT build-up in Spain, acquisitions of LNG and power assets in Puerto Rico and Mexico, as well as the acquisition of renewable portfolios. Based in Madrid, Spain, Mrs. de Adrian is studying an MSc in Global Finance at City-The Business School and holds a BA degree and MBA from Deusto Business School.
