The Houston tech scene is constantly evolving, and so is Houston Exponential. That’s why we’re excited to introduce the newest member of the HX team: Director of Strategy Milad Khakzadghomi.
In his new role, Milad will work with Houston’s many innovation-forward organizations to create opportunities within the ecosystem for growth.
In his own words:
“One of my main goals has always been to better connect the community in hopes of creating impactful collisions that spark valuable collaboration. At HX, my goal is to help build bridges between all of the organizations so that collisions happen more naturally and at a higher frequency. That said, connecting is only part of the mission, so I look forward to seeing how I can help in a number of ways.
Blair Garrou rightly said that The Cannon, TMCx, TX/RX Labs, Station, and all of the other organizations looking to help expand Houston’s startup ecosystem have been doing an amazing job, but no single group can do it on their own. While those organizations essentially fight the ground war that is fulfilling the daily needs of entrepreneurs, we are here to offer long term viability and vision. A lot of the way we support those organizations are not entirely visible, but we are creating the doors for opportunities that those organizations will be able to go through in the future.”
And because we’re all getting to know one another here, check out these fast facts about Milad:
Unique talent or hobby:
I spent a long period of my life as a professional gamer. This was back in the days when players didn’t have lofty salaries and were just happy when sponsors would offer us gaming gear and travel costs. I don’t have nearly as much time to play games these days, but it’s a hobby I remember very fondly and try to play a match or two when I can.
Favorite local restaurant:
I love Tiny Boxwoods, and the “Mother’s Breakfast” is definitely my favorite breakfast in town. It’s a good thing that they don’t have Wi-Fi or I would probably just office out of the corner table by the windows.
Favorite Houston sports team:
Two tiny dogs, a male chihuahua named Monster and a toy poodle named Chanel. These two basically run the house…I’m just the personal butler, chief, and entertainer to two puppies.
“Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.” -Howard Aiken.
Something you’re passionate about:
Helping startup founders be successful! I really got into Houston’s startup scene when I joined Station Houston back in 2016 and I’ve found that founders are some of my favorite people.
One thing most people don’t know about you:
I’m a long time racing fan and I follow Formula 1 more than any other sport. We have one of the world’s best race tracks in Austin, so I look forward to visiting Circuit of the Americas in November to watch the race!
